The inaugural walk was attended by Salesians Fr Natalino Freitas, Rector of the Salesian House in Puerto Deseado, and Fr Manuel José Fernández; Fr Raúl Domínguez, of the diocesan clergy, parish priest of the parish dedicated to St John Bosco in Caleta Olivia; the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, educational and governmental authorities from various jurisdictions, civil associations, and a large group of people associated with the work of Don Bosco.<\/p>\n
At the start of the route on National Route 3 (near the roundabout connecting with Provincial Route 43, at the entrance to Fitz Roy), Fr Freitas blessed and opened the Monument to Don Bosco in honour of the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first Salesian missionaries in Argentina in 1875.<\/p>\n
Before reaching Jaramillo, at the roundabout connecting Route 3 with National Route 281, the pilgrims paused near the statue of Mary Help of Christians, making a gesture of faith and dedicating a moment of prayer to her.<\/p>\n
Then at km 60 of Route 281, a statue of Blessed Ceferino Namuncurá was unveiled. Further on, at Tellier (km 20), a stop was made at the Chapel of Saint Artemides Zatti.<\/p>\n
The Lourdes Grotto was the next stop on the route, where visitors expressed their admiration for the uniqueness of this natural sanctuary.<\/p>\n
The Patagonian Classic Car Club (CACP) accompanied the journey with around twenty classic cars.<\/p>\n
Finally, the parish of Our Lady of the Guard, in Puerto Deseado, marked the final stop, bringing to a close the first journey of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Argentina. There, at the end of a historic day, the pilgrims visited the centenary exhibition of the SalesianSan José school.<\/p>\n
