The celebrations took place both at the Maison Gahinja and at the Don Bosco Ngangi Youth Centre, in an atmosphere of reflection, formation, fellowship and joy. At the Maison Gahinja, the day began with a Mass presided over by Fr Marcel Kafishi, SDB, Vice-Rector of the Salesian community in Ngangi. During his homily, he invited children, educators and social workers to base their lives on the values of justice, humanity and love for one’s neighbour. He also encouraged participants to share with others the joy and affection they had received within their families and in the Salesian educational environment. Afterwards, the children took part in singing, dancing and discussion sessions focused on learning about their rights, duties and responsibilities. These activities helped to strengthen their awareness of their role in shaping Africa’s future. At the same time, some young people from the Isidore Bakanja house reflected on the themes of coexistence, friendship, mutual respect and peace. Through activities, recreational sessions and a question-and-answer session, they deepened their understanding of African Children’s Day and the importance of protecting children’s rights. The celebration concluded with a time of fellowship and celebration.

(ANS – Goma) – On Tuesday 16 June 2026, the Don Bosco Ngangi Youth Centre in Goma celebrated World African […]

[94

post-1037327","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-central-and-west-africa
["GET
