Held under the theme “Echoes – Pratidhwani: Becoming Enlightened, Living in the Light,” the fest sought to respond to the realities faced by tribal youth in the region, including limited educational access, migration challenges, unemployment, and social vulnerability. The initiative reflected the Salesians’ ongoing commitment to youth formation and community building.

The gathering was organised under the patronage of Bishop Aplinar Senapati and was spearheaded by the Salesian Province of Hyderabad. Fr. Pramod Baghsingh SDB, Regional Youth Director, and Fr. Jameson Nayak SDB coordinated the programme, with the support of Fr. Pramod Nayak, Diocesan Youth Director of Rayagada. Fr. Wilson Jose, Rector of Navanirman Don Bosco, played a key role in hosting the event.

The programme began with orientation sessions, praise and worship, ice-breaking activities, and a Bible quiz conducted through the Kahoot digital platform, reflecting an innovative and engaging approach to youth ministry. The formal inauguration included the lighting of the lamp and presentation of the theme. In his keynote address, Fr. Baghsingh invited the young participants to see themselves as “God’s echoes,” called to reflect divine light and truth in society.

Throughout the two days, sessions focused on career guidance, vocational discernment, leadership, migration issues, digital literacy, human rights, and youth participation in Church and society. Fr. Justine led a career guidance session, while Fr. Naresh addressed contemporary youth concerns and the responsibility of becoming agents of change.

The spiritual dimension formed the heart of the fest. The Eucharistic celebrations, presided over by Fr. Shantichandan Pani and later by Bishop Aplinar Senapati, were enriched by tribal music and active youth participation. Special accompaniment sessions titled “In Abraham’s Tent” and “Jacob’s Ladder” offered opportunities for confession, counselling, and personal guidance.

The event concluded with the Way of the Cross, adoration, and vibrant cultural performances showcasing the talents and enthusiasm of the youth. Salesian leaders described the gathering as a milestone for youth ministry in the region, aimed at forming spiritually rooted and socially responsible young leaders.

Youth Fest 2026 stood as a strong expression of the Salesian charism of accompanying young people, reaffirming Don Bosco’s mission of forming “good Christians and honest citizens” in one of Odisha’s most underserved tribal areas.
