Bukavu, DR Congo – December 2025 – Salesian practical trainees from the St Joseph Delegation of Central-Eastern Africa (AFC EAST) participated in a session of formation and spiritual renewal in Bukavu, hosted by the Discalced Carmelites community. The meeting, which took place from 26 to 30 December, is part of the ongoing formation of Salesians and aims to deepen the identity of Salesian practical trainees and strengthen fraternity among confreres. The participants, coming from the communities of Ngangi, ITIG, Nyakadaka, Uvira, and Boscolac, attended conferences and workshops led by Salesians, including Fr Kizito Tembo, who played a central role in animating and coordinating the activities. The topics covered included Salesian spirituality, affective maturity, community life, shared mission, and the history of the Congregation, the AFC Province, and the St Joseph Delegation. The session alternated moments of prayer, liturgical celebrations, silence, and fraternal sharing with visits to the cathedral in Bukavu and the Salesian community of Nyakadaka, fostering concrete experiences of Salesianity and educational mission. The meeting ended with the Eucharist and thanksgiving. The practical trainees returned to Goma strengthened in their Salesian identity and motivated to live the educational and pastoral mission to the full.
