Patukmai, Ecuador – December 2025 – The fifth edition of the Padre Yánkuam Jintia Cup took place in the Achuar community of Patukmai in the days leading up to Christmas. The sporting event brought together seven soccer schools from different communities in the Achuar territory, becoming a space for integration, formation, and experimentation with values. The tournament brought together around 450 children, teenagers, and young adults from the Padre Yánkuam Jintia soccer schools in Saapapentsa, Karakam, Wichimi, Wachirpas, Ipiak, Wasakentsa, and Patukmai, who participated in various female and male categories. Including accompanying adults and members of the host community, the event attracted around 600 people, and for many of them, reaching Patukmai was a real challenge. The main objective of the Padre Yánkuam Jintia Cup is to promote the positive use of free time, the development of athletic skills and, above all, friendship, brotherhood and the practice of values, in line with the motto of the soccer schools: ‘Score with good values.’ The educational approach is reinforced by the constant support of coaches and parents from each school. The event was made possible thanks to the support of the Salesian Mission Office in Madrid, Don Bosco de la Kennedy, and the AKKON sports equipment company. Also present were volunteers, instructors, Salesians including Fr Enio Esteves and Fr Agustinus Togo, Rector of the Salesian Mission in Wasakentsa, the Salesian Community psychologist, and parents.
