Fr Bejarano arrived on Sunday 18 January. The first day took place at the Salesian theological student residence ‘Ratisbonne’ in Jerusalem and was dedicated to meeting with the community and, in particular, with the young Salesians. It was a precious moment to strengthen bonds, listen to the expectations and hopes of the new generations, and offer formation and guidance in the wake of the vocation received. In a time marked by fragility and uncertainty, the presence of the General Councillor was a concrete sign of a Congregation that accompanies, supports and walks together.

On Monday, 19 January, the visit continued in Betgemal, where the meeting with the community was a simple but intense occasion of fraternity and sharing. In the afternoon, the transfer to Cremisan allowed Fr Bejarano to meet his confreres from the provincial community, fostering a climate of sincere dialogue and communion, attentive to pastoral challenges and the common journey.

The following day, the General Councillor for Youth Ministry travelled to Nazareth, the cradle of Mary’s silent “here I am” and the hidden life of Jesus. He remained there for two days, entirely dedicated to meeting and sharing pastoral life with young people and members of the Educational-Pastoral Community (CEP). These were days rich in listening, discussion and fraternity, during which the centrality of young people and the need for an educational presence faithful to the Salesian charism emerged strongly.

On Friday 23rd January, the journey led to Bethlehem. The city of Jesus’ birth, a sign of hope that springs forth from poverty, was the final stop on this itinerary, ideal for gathering together what had been experienced and entrusting it to the Lord. Here too, Fr Bejarano offered moments of formation and accompaniment to the members of the pastoral community and met with the members of the CEP and young people, encouraging them to live their human and Christian journey with passion and responsibility.

The visit proved to be a concrete sign of closeness and formation, capable of encouraging and confirming Salesian life and mission, inviting everyone to look to the future with renewed confidence. The time shared was a precious gift for the communities: a strong call to revive pastoral enthusiasm, remaining deeply rooted in the Land of Jesus and, at the same time, open to the challenges of the present, with a fraternal heart and a spirit of hope.
