In particular, the initiative was created as an urgent response to the devastation caused by the recent forest fires that deeply affected the community linked to the Salesian presence in Concepción. The central objective of the campaign is therefore to channel the solidarity of all the Chilean Salesian communities to provide the necessary resources for the purchase of building materials and basic necessities.

In a letter sent by the Salesian Provincial in Chile, Fr Nelson Moreno, to the various Salesian works in the country, he explains how a considerable number of families have suffered a total loss of their material possessions and, in some cases, even their homes, finding themselves in a situation of extreme vulnerability.

‘As the Salesian Family, we cannot remain indifferent. As heirs to the spirituality of Don Bosco, we feel called to reach out to our brothers and sisters who are suffering today,’ said Fr Nelson Moreno in his message.

The goal is clear: to work together not only on the physical reconstruction of homes, but also on restoring the dignity of those affected.

To optimise logistics and ensure that aid arrives efficiently, the campaign will focus exclusively on raising funds. Donations will be accepted until Friday 13 March.
