The visit began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist together with the Provincial and his Council, underscoring the spiritual character of the occasion. In his homily, the Rector Major highlighted the importance of grounding the Salesian mission in prayer and communion with Christ. He invoked God’s blessings upon the Province and the many young people entrusted to its care, emphasizing that spiritual renewal remains the foundation of effective apostolic service.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, Fr Attard held an extended meeting with the Provincial and his Council. In a climate of attentive listening and open dialogue, he reflected on the principal concerns of the Province. Drawing on the richness of the Salesian charism, he recalled the orientations of his predecessor and echoed the calls of the 29th General Chapter, inviting the Province to renew the centrality of Jesus Christ in every aspect of its mission. He encouraged the leaders to strengthen unity, deepen their Salesian identity, and respond with renewed zeal to the needs of today’s youth.
In the coming days, the Rector Major will visit several Salesian communities and participate in key gatherings across the Province. His presence is seen as a moment of communion and encouragement for the entire Salesian Family of Chennai. The visit is expected to further strengthen the Province’s commitment to serving young people with fidelity to Don Bosco’s charism and with renewed pastoral enthusiasm.
