RMG – ‘Salesian Family Newsletter’: a new tool for communication, dialogue and participation
The first two issues of this unique newsletter were launched in recent months to animate the participants of the 44th edition of the Salesian Family Spirituality Days and to provide them with practical information aimed at ensuring the smooth running of the event.
Now, given the effectiveness of the communication and the positive feedback received, Fr Joan Lluís Playà, Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family, and the other members of the Secretariat for the Salesian Family have decided to continue this project, designed to facilitate communication and animation among the members of the various groups, the Delegates for the Salesian Family and those who share the Salesian mission for young people, especially those who are most vulnerable and at risk.
‘It will be a simple tool for animation and information, but we hope it will bear fruit in terms of involvement, unity and harmony,’ commented Fr Playà. ‘In our meetings, we have often emphasised the importance and charismatic value of networking and working together for the good of young people, and this newsletter serves precisely to promote a clearer vision within the Salesian Family, faster and more widespread information, and greater synergy between all groups.’
The ‘Salesian Family – Newsletter’ is therefore officially launched today, with the first editions in five languages – Italian, English, Spanish, French and Portuguese – and will be published every two months, in homage to the birthday of the founder of the Salesian Family, St John Bosco, who was born on 16 August.
Furthermore, with the collaboration of the Social Communication Sector of the Salesians of Don Bosco, the newsletter will not only be sent, as is traditional, by email, but will also be published and shared on the website www.famigliasalesiana.org and through social networks.
In this first issue, readers are offered the concluding words delivered by the Rector Major, Fr Fabio Attard, at the end and as a summary of the Salesian Family Spirituality Days 2026, together with what is characterised as the real novelty of this newsletter: the ‘Family News’ page, a space where updates, programmes and information on the main events concerning the various groups of the vast tree that grew from Don Bosco are and will increasingly be shared.
For this inaugural issue, the five language versions of ‘Salesian Family – Newsletter’ are also available for reading at the bottom of the page.
