The conference provided a rich programme of talks and workshops led by various schools, addressing themes such as bereavement support, artificial intelligence in education, staff formation as a pedagogy of love, international collaboration, leadership formation among young people, and accompaniment of those at risk. The exchange of experiences highlighted the depth of dedication and expertise within the national Salesian network.

At the heart of the gathering was the call to help young people discover and express their “spark” – their God-given gifts – echoing Don Bosco’s first encounter with Bartholomew Garelli and a central insight of the Preventive System.

Fr. Raphael Bejarano, the General Councillor for Youth Ministry, offered guidance on integrating the Salesian approach into both institutional planning and the personal vocation of educators. Fr. John Dickson, reflected on the history of Salesian education in Great Britain, while David Wells explored its relational dimension, describing education as igniting “sparks” and forming constellations of relationships. Sr. Mary Greenan, FMA, concluded the reflections by highlighting the mystical dimension of Salesian education, evoking the image of “the fire and the rose” as symbols of passion and beauty in the educator’s mission.

The day concluded with the celebration of the Eucharist presided over by Fr. Dickson. Each school received a commemorative banner, prepared by Thornleigh College, bearing Don Bosco’s words:“In every young person, a point of goodness is accessible, and it is the primary duty of the educator to discover that sensitive cord of the heart so as to draw out the best in the young person.”

The conference reaffirmed the shared mission of Salesian educators: to recognize, nurture, and set free the spark of goodness present in every young person.
