Europe – Lots of news for Salesian Vocational Formation
In Spain: two conferences, a shared commitment
In the early months of the year, Don Bosco Tech Europe was present in Spain as a speaker at two important institutional events: Both events confirmed the importance of building solid relationships between international Salesian networks and their institutional and business partners.
- the Congress on Internationalisation, organised by Spain’s Mary Help of Christians Province (SMX), which provided an opportunity for discussion on transnational cooperation in Salesian formation;
- and the Congress on Vocational Formation of the St James the Greater Province (SSM) in Madrid, which provided a further opportunity for dialogue with the Provinces and their national partners.
In Italy: attendance at the Meeting of Provincials from the Central-Northern and Mediterranean Regions of Europe
The body that coordinates and oversees Salesian formation could not miss the meeting of Provincials from the Central-Northern and Mediterranean Regions of Europe: a two-day event featuring presentations and reflection on activities carried out and future challenges, together with the Provincials from the Euro-Mediterranean territories. The session, led by Piero Fabris, Director of Don Bosco Tech Europe, and his team, served to share plans and synergistic developments, coordinated by the Regional Councillors: Fr Roman Jachimowicz and Fr Juan Carlos Perez Godoy, both members of the network’s board.
In Poland: new educational centres for vocational formation
In a joint mission with its counterpart organisation active in South-East Asia, Don Bosco Tech ASEAN, Don Bosco Tech Europe took part in the inauguration of two major educational centres dedicated to vocational formation: one in Różanystok and one in Łódź.
The two centres are the result of collaboration between Polish companies and the Poland-Warsaw Province (PLE), and represent a concrete example of how synergy between the world of work and the Salesian network can translate into high-quality training facilities.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to meet the Province’s partners and promote proposals for synergies with an impact on various European and non-European territories.
DBTech World Visioning: a week in Rome
In March, Rome hosted the first DBTech World Visioning: a week of meetings and strategic reflection that brought together, for the first time, representatives from all the Don Bosco Tech networks (Africa, ASEAN, Philippines, India, Europe) alongside the conglomerate of Salesian youth associations “Don Bosco Network” (DBN) and some of their associates.
“It was a historic moment for the network, dedicated to building a shared vision, sharing strategies and strengthening relations between the various entities that make up the DBTech family worldwide,” commented Dr Fabris. “A key focus is the working group for the creation of globally shared standards and the upcoming meeting in France together with the Don Bosco Network and its associates.”
Back in Italy: meetings and collaborations
Following the week in Rome, activities spread across Italy with two significant events: together with the Don Bosco Tech India Society, Don Bosco Tech Europe met with Confindustria Venezia, initiating a promising dialogue between the Italian business world and the Salesian network in India; then, with Don Bosco Tech ASEAN, it was possible to consolidate and update relations with various Italian partners of mutual interest. Finally, there was participation in the formation meeting for directors of Italian Vocational Training, held at the Sant’Ambrogio Vocational Training Centre in Milan. On this occasion, the network’s leaders were able to hold a brief coordination meeting with the national CNOSFAP network, which was also visited during a plenary session in Rome.
Erasmus Projects: an international challenge
Alongside all the events described above, March also saw the closing of the application deadlines for Erasmus programmes. Among the projects submitted, one shared mobility scheme stands out, involving students from Spain, Italy, Colombia, El Salvador and Uruguay: five countries, a single transnational training opportunity. The project has been submitted. Now all that remains is to await the outcome with confidence.
Looking to the future: the birth of Don Bosco Tech Colombia
Finally, looking across the ocean, on 17 April 2026, the Don Bosco Tech Europe team attended, via video link, the official foundation of Don Bosco Tech Colombia, the project promoted by the Medellín Province, Coombia (COM) but shared by the two Colombian provinces, entirely dedicated to the promotion and development of vocational formation in the country.
