Thanks to the experts’ contributions, topics such as the Economer’s spirituality , financial reporting, a planning mindset, and financial safeguarding, opportunities and risks are explored in depth…

The first session of the course, on the afternoon of Monday 4th, opened with an address by the Rector Major, Fr Fabio Attard, who focused on the identity of the Provincial Economer and the role to be played by the Salesian responsible for the administration of the province, demonstrating a personal dignity that reflects the office entrusted to him.

Other sessions will cover the canonical and legal frameworks for action, as well as the definition of roles and the proper management of human resources, the selection of criteria in decision-making processes, the work of the Planning and Development Office and international solidarity.

Further time is set aside to illustrate the tools available to Economers in the fulfilment of their mandate, such as the Economer’s Office portal, and to highlight the role of the Economers in relation to other areas of Salesian activity – Mission, Youth Ministry and Social Communication.

Attention is also given to highlighting care for the environment and the care of Creation in the administrative and economic decisions taken for Salesian circumscriptions.

To enrich the event, two cultural activities are also planned: a visit to the Catacombs of St Callixtus and a visit to the Basilica of St Mary Majo, with the Salesian community of the Sacred Heart.

On the morning of Friday 8 May, following the closing Mass presided over by the Rector Major, his Vicar, Fr Stefano Martoglio, will deliver the closing remarks.
