Brazil – Father Roger Luis da Silva elected as the new president of the Canção Nova Community
The new president succeeds Father Wagner Ferreira, who was elected in 2023 following the death of the founder of the Canção Nova Community, Monsignor Jonas Abib (on 12 December 2022). He is, therefore, the second successor to lead the Association.
Father Roger Luis da Silva is originally from Itaperuna, RJ. A member of the Canção Nova Community since 2000, he has served in the missions of Cachoeira Paulista, São Paulo; Nova Esperança, Paraná; Palmas, Tocantins; and Brasília, Federal District. Among the roles he has held within the Community are: formator at the Community House, rector of the Seminary, head of Missions, TVCN, and councillor in charge of the clergy.
Father Roger holds degrees in Philosophy and Theology. He was ordained on 12 December 2006 and is expected to remain in the post of president until 2031.

Canção Nova
Founded in 1978 by Monsignor Jonas Abib, the Canção Nova Community is a Catholic charismatic community whose mission is to evangelise through the media, retreats, gatherings and social works. In 2008, the Community received Pontifical Recognition and, in 2009, joined the Salesian Family.
