RMG – Formation and orientation session for newly appointed Economers concludes
During the intervening days, the Economers gathered for the meeting had the opportunity to be brought up to date on the most pressing issues for their work, ranging from inter-congregational solidarity to development projects underway in various contexts and countries within the Salesian world, and from financial matters to issues of administrative and accounting transparency.
The collaboration of the various Sector Councillors was greatly appreciated by all; in a series of sessions, they presented to the Economers the duties, competences and responsibilities of their offices, as well as how these interrelate with the day-to-day activities of the Provincial Economers.
On the morning of the final day, those present had the opportunity to attend Mass presided over by Fr Attard in the Chapel of the Word – a further gesture of attention and consideration on the part of the Rector Major towards them and their offices.
Then, in his closing remarks the Economer General took the opportunity to thank all participants for their commitment and, at the same time, to reaffirm his fraternal, heartfelt and practical support: “Following these intensive days, you now have all the tools you need to carry out your duties to the best of your ability, with responsibility and professionalism. The Salesian Central Office remains at your disposal for any advice or information you may require, and we thank you for your active participation in the course.”
The event concluded with a final moment of spiritual, cultural and charismatic deepening, through a visit to the Don Bosco House Museum in Rome and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, both located within the Salesian Central Headquarters complex.
