The day began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the Provincial House, followed by an early departure to the North. After a journey of over six hours, the Rector Major and his delegation arrived in Kilinochchi, where they received a warm and colourful welcome. Traditional dances and songs reflected the rich cultural heritage and deep hospitality of the local community.

In the afternoon, a grand cultural programme was organised in his honour, attended by the Bishop of Jaffna, priests, religious, parents, students, past pupils, and members of the Salesian Family. In his address, Fr Attard presented St John Bosco as a determined young boy from a poor background who, through education, perseverance, and faith, shaped his future with courage and vision. Encouraging the young people present, he urged them to remain steadfast and strive to become worthy individuals despite life’s challenges.

The Rector Major then proceeded to the Mankulam Aspirantate, where he met the aspirants and shared reflections from his own vocational journey. Speaking on the beauty of vocation, he invited them to listen attentively to God’s call. The encounter concluded with a lively and meaningful question-and-answer session.

In the evening, the journey continued to Don Bosco Nochchiyagama. The Rector Major was warmly received by the former Bishop and the present Bishop of Anuradhapura, along with the Salesian community, amidst traditional celebrations. The day concluded with a fraternal dinner and a spirit of gratitude for the vibrant faith and missionary dynamism of the northern communities.

Day Four stood as a powerful sign of communion, hope, and renewed commitment to Don Bosco’s mission in Sri Lanka, especially among the young in regions that continue to journey toward healing and growth.
