One of the main meetings took place in Ljubljana, at the Kodeljevo centre, where he met Salesians and co-workers from the Salesian Skala social work. He addressed the challenges of working with young people today and encouraged everyone to continue, in the Salesian spirit, their educational commitment for the benefit of young people, through the numerous initiatives already underway in the Saints Cyril and Methodius Province of Slovenia.

The second important meeting took place in Maribor, where Fr Bejarano met with members of the Provincial Commission for Salesian Youth Ministry, convened by the Provincial Delegate for Salesian Youth Ministry, Fr Jure Babnik SDB. The General Councillor presented the process and efforts undertaken to define a clear Salesian identity within Salesian programmes; he then outlined the decades-long journey that led from ideas and reflections to the formulation of procedures, principles and guidelines compiled in the handbook “Works and Services for Young People in Situations of Vulnerability and Exclusion”. The central focus remains the same, today as in Don Bosco’s time: how to guarantee the personal dignity of young people in their growth and development, from a human and spiritual perspective? Today’s Salesian mission, in all its forms, works to achieve this goal.

Fr Bejarano was able to witness first-hand the vibrant activity of the Salesian mission in Slovenia during his visit to the boarding section at the St Francis de Sales centre in Želimlje and at the gathering of young people from the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) during Mass celebrated at the Provincial Centre in Rakovnik, Ljubljana. Furthermore, he shared his impressions of the activities carried out and offered his encouragement to the leaders of the Slovenian Salesian Province during the meeting of the Provincial Council in Rakovnik, convened by the Provincial, Fr Peter Končan.

The visit by the General Councillor for Salesian Youth Ministry has strengthened bilateral relations between the Salesians, their collaborators and the young people of the Salesian Province of SLO and the central government of the Salesian Society, promoting mutual understanding, cooperation and connection in the spirit of Don Bosco.
