Ukraine – 300 children take part in the Diocesan Children’s Day at the Salesian Vsesvit High School in Zhytomyr
Throughout the day, the young participants took part in communal prayers, Mass and group activities, various games and workshops prepared by youth leaders and volunteers, and visited interactive stations inspired by the invocations of the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Thanks to these activities, the children had the opportunity not only to deepen their faith, but also to experience friendship, collaboration and the joy of belonging to a wider Christian community.
The highlight of the gathering was the Eucharist, presided over by Bishop Ołeksandr Jazłowecki, Auxiliary Bishop of Zhytomyr, Kyiv. In his homily, the Bishop encouraged the children to trust in God and to cultivate a personal relationship with Him through daily prayer. He helped them understand that God listens to every person and accompanies them throughout their lives, especially in times of difficulty and uncertainty.
The event was made possible thanks to the collaboration of various priests, nuns, catechists, volunteers and young leaders, who together created an atmosphere of hospitality, joy and faith. Their commitment reflected the Church’s desire to accompany the children and help them discover their unique value and their vocation.
For the Salesian community in Zhytomyr, organising the Diocesan Children’s Day provided a further opportunity to put into practice the educational mission handed down by St John Bosco: to create spaces where young people can grow spiritually, socially and personally.
The gathering took place in an atmosphere of gratitude and celebration, leaving the participants with joyful memories and making them even more aware that they are an important part of the living, vibrant Church in Ukraine.
