(ANS – Salvador de Bahia) – Students at the Salesian High School in Salvador took part in another edition of the Interdisciplinary Project, which this year had the theme: “The more northeasterner I am, the prouder I must be”. Inspired by the cultural, historical and social richness of the North-East, the initiative encouraged an immersion in regional literature, stimulating reflection, research and artistic production across several stages. The young people drew on two Brazilian literary works – “The Saint and the Pig” by Ariano Suassuna, and “Torto Arado” by Itamar Vieira Junior – which helped them reflect, respectively, on elements of popular culture and on issues such as identity, ancestry, inequality, labour relations and the reality of rural communities in the Bahian countryside. Throughout the project, the young people took part in numerous activities, culminating in the event on 6 June 2026, which brought together themed exhibitions, cultural presentations, theatre performances and other artistic events that brought to life the reflections developed in the classroom. The initiative placed the students at the heart of the educational process, encouraging creativity, artistic expression and an appreciation of the cultural richness of the North-East. Through literature, art and history, the experience strengthened a sense of belonging and highlighted the diverse voices that contribute to shaping the identity of the North-East.
