(ANS – Chennai) – The Salesian Province of Chennai organised the first meeting of the Deputy Directors of the communities at the “Citadel”, with four Salesian Brothers taking part in this role for the first time. The meeting opened with the celebration of the Eucharist presided over by the Provincial, Fr L. Don Bosco, together with the Vice Provincial, Fr John Alex, and the Provincial Economer, Fr John Britto. In his address, the Provincial emphasised the role of the Vice Rector in fostering fraternal life, accompanying confreres and supporting the Rector. Topics related to Salesian spiritual accompaniment, youth ministry and the mental health of young people were presented, alongside the main congregational documents. The participants reflected on community life, shared responsibility, simplicity of life and the sustainability of the mission. In the afternoon, the importance of the CEP, the PEPS and annual planning was explored in greater depth, along with financial responsibility and transparency. The provincial initiative for the eradication of poverty was also presented, and attention was drawn to the commitment to animating the groups of the Salesian Family. The meeting concluded with a call to strengthen unity and fraternity for the sake of the poorest young people and with an entrustment to Mary Help of Christians.
