(ANS – Shillong) – Fr Michael Makri, Director of the Don Bosco Youth Centre in Shillong, was presented with the Vocational Excellence Award by the Rotary Club of Shillong on 24 June, in recognition of his ongoing commitment to the advancement and wellbeing of young people. This prestigious award recognises his significant contribution to vocational training and his commitment to providing young people – particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds – with the skills and opportunities needed for a better future. Under his leadership, the Don Bosco Youth Centre has distinguished itself through initiatives focused on skills development and youth empowerment. The award was presented by Shri Paul Lyngdoh, MLA and Councillor of the Government of Meghalaya, in the presence of members of the Rotary Club and other dignitaries. The award represents not only a personal mark of esteem, but also a recognition of the Salesian mission to promote the education, training and integral development of young people, by strengthening vocational training as a path to dignity, autonomy and integration into the labour market.
