(ANS – Mbabane) – On Saturday, 27 June 2026, at Mater Dolorosa Parish in Mbabane, Deacon Nhlanhla Nxumalo was ordained a Salesian priest by Bishop José Luis Ponce de León of the Diocese of Manzini. The ordination marks a historic moment for the Salesian Family and the AFM Province, as Fr. Nxumalo becomes only the second Salesian priest from Eswatini. In his homily, the Bishop underscored the centrality of prayer in priestly life, inviting the newly ordained to seek daily “one-to-one” time with the Father, following the example of Jesus. Drawing from the image of Moses with uplifted hands, he reminded the new priest to carry before the Lord both the struggles and joys of his people.
