(ANS – Chicago) – Fr Thomas Scott Junis, SDB, was ordained to the priesthood on the morning of Saturday, 27 June 2026, at St John Bosco Church in Chicago. The ordaining prelate was Bishop José Maria Garcia Maldonado, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago. More than 30 priests, most of them Salesians, concelebrated the Eucharist, while the church was filled with faithful and many other parishioners followed the celebration from the gallery. The bilingual liturgy was enriched by vibrant music, with the entire assembly joining in song. In his homily, Bishop Maldonado reminded those present that “saying ‘yes’ is not easy because there are many challenges,” adding that the Sacred Heart “helps us to be renewed and transformed, just as Peter was transformed by God’s love when he encountered the Risen Jesus and became His missionary disciple.” Following the celebration, the Salesian Cooperators and parishioners hosted a reception, providing an opportunity for all to share in a joyful moment of fraternity.
