The central theme of this year’s participation will be the 150th anniversary of the arrival in Argentina of the first Salesian missionaries, sent by St John Bosco in 1875.

During the fair, visitors will be able to discover products made by the Salesian agricultural schools. The Salesians operate several agricultural schools throughout the country: three in the Province of Buenos Aires, two in Córdoba, one in Mendoza, one in Tierra del Fuego and one in Misiones, most of which were founded more than a century ago.

As an integral part of their educational programme, students take part in every stage of the production process, becoming active participants in the entire supply chain, from the origin of production to the finished product.

The sale of these products also has a significant social impact, as the proceeds help support the activities carried out by Salesian houses throughout the country. These include educational initiatives, vocational training programmes, socio-community and pastoral projects, as well as support for the Salesian missionary presence in Argentine Patagonia.

The Salesian stand, D35, will be located along the traditional “Sweet Route,” where visitors will be able to sample and purchase products such as wines, yerba mate, olive oil, dulce de leche and cheeses.

Known as The Great Argentine Market, Caminos y Sabores brings together in one place the extraordinary diversity of a country rich in unique flavours, aromas, textures and landscapes. The event combines gastronomy and culture, showcasing the rich and varied identity of Argentina.

Don Bosco por los Jóvenes has participated in the event for more than ten years, and this year’s edition will provide a new opportunity to highlight the work carried out by the Salesian agricultural schools, give thanks, reflect, and renew Don Bosco’s dream 150 years after the arrival of the first Salesians in the country.

The fair will take place from 9 to 12 July at the BA Ferial exhibition centre, Avenida Costanera Rafael Obligado 1221, Buenos Aires.
