(ANS – Chennai) – The Salesian communication centre in the Province of Chennai, India (INM), Don Bosco Institute of Communication Arts (DBICA), organised a formation workshop from 6 to 8 March 2026 to provide 30 sisters from 21 religious congregations in South India with skills in digital storytelling and communication for social protection. The programme was conducted for members of religious congregations collaborating with the mission of the Amrat India Trust. The workshop, facilitated and hosted by DBICA, aimed to strengthen the communication skills of sisters engaged in social work so that they can effectively document their work, support vulnerable communities, and share their mission through secular and ecclesiastical platforms. The sessions began with formation on the art of mobile photography, followed by a module on graphic design, led by Mr Marin Koska. A session on emerging technologies, led by Mr Xavier, guided participants in the ethical use of artificial intelligence tools for text and image generation. The formation also included professional training in news writing, reporting and basic screenwriting for short videos, conducted by Fr Jeevaraj and Fr Oswald. Finally, Fr Ernest Rosario, Provincial Delegate for Social Communication, led a session on strategic communication on social media, guiding participants in creating engaging content and building a positive online presence to support their social mission.
