(ANS – Mawlai) – The Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Mawlai witnessed an overwhelming gathering of faith and devotion when some 6,000 pilgrims from various parishes and Oratories of the Archdiocese took part in the pilgrimage held on 14 June 2026. The one-day spiritual programme began with Eucharistic Adoration conducted in various groups, preparing the faithful for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The solemn Eucharistic celebration at 10.30 am was presided over by Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh of Shillong, who encouraged the faithful to deepen their devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to become witnesses to Christ’s love in their families and communities. In the afternoon, the pilgrims gathered once more at the Shrine for a special programme that included Eucharistic Adoration and the Blessing, conferred by Fr John Zosiama, SDB, Superior of the Salesian Province of Shillong, India. The annual pilgrimage was a vibrant expression of faith and unity, bringing together thousands of devotees who spent the day in prayer, adoration and fellowship. The organisers expressed their gratitude to all the volunteers, clergy, religious and pilgrims whose participation contributed to the success of the event. The Sacred Heart Shrine, Mawlai, therefore continues to be an important centre of devotion, attracting countless faithful seeking spiritual renewal and a deeper encounter with the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
