(ANS – Shillong) – Kitkupar Nongsiej, winner of Ka Sur Kynud Season 3, Meghalaya’s premier singing competition organised by the Don Bosco Media Network (DBMN), will represent India at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) 2026, to be held in Las Vegas, USA, from July 13 to 21. Ahead of his departure, the Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC), Laitumkhrah, in collaboration with DBMN & DBMN TV, organised a prayer service and send-off ceremony on July 8 at the DBMN TV Main Studio. Church leaders, family members, media professionals, and well-wishers gathered to bless the young singer. Kitkupar will leave Shillong on July 10 with his father, Aibari Kupar Syiemlieh. Hailing from Kynshi in Eastern West Khasi Hills, he first gained statewide recognition after winning Ka Sur Kynud Season 3 and receiving a cash prize of โน1 lakh from East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner R. M. Kurbah, having earlier won Sur Kynud Niam Season 2. He later joined the Shillong Chamber Choir and participated in an International Exposure Programme in Indonesia in 2025. Known for promoting Khasi folk heritage alongside contemporary music, he cleared a competitive international online audition to secure his place in Team India for WCOPA, widely regarded as the “Olympics of Performing Arts,” which brings together participants from over 60 countries.
