Brazil – Don Bosco’s Preventive System guides the holistic formation of young people at CESAM Goiânia

Goiânia, Brazil – January 2026 – In addition to the guidelines of the Apprenticeship Manual (Law 10.097/2000), the Salesian Apprenticeship Centre (CESAM) in Goiânia is also guided by a pedagogical and pastoral method: Don Bosco’s Preventive System. Based on the combination of reason, religion and educational love, this model directly reflects the Salesian charism and seeks the integral development of young people, promoting professional, human and civic formation. This perspective guides educational practices and the way in which each young person is welcomed and accompanied in Salesian pedagogy, which is one of the main characteristics of the institution’s Socio-Apprenticeship Programme. The Programme is distinguished by Ongoing Formation that goes beyond the technical aspect, valuing personal potential; Development of values such as responsibility, respect, solidarity and leadership; Comprehensive support that includes social assistance, culture and mental health; Individual Development Plan (IDP) to develop autonomy and personal life projects. With over 50 years of activity and 37,000 apprentices trained, CESAM embodies Don Bosco’s legacy: preparing young people for the world of work by forming ‘good Christians and upright citizens’ through an educational approach that combines professional quality and integral human development.
