(ANS – Siliguri) – Salesian College Autonomous, Siliguri, has launched the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in alignment with NEP 2020. Approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the dual-degree course enables students to earn a B.A./B.Sc./B.Com along with a B.Ed., removing the need for separate post-graduate teacher training. The recognition order dated 19 February 2026, published in the Gazette of India, permits an intake of 100 students for the B.A. B.Ed. (Secondary Stage) programme. Principal Dr. Babu Joseph described the initiative as a paradigm shift integrating subject mastery and professional training from the outset. The curriculum blends disciplinary studies, pedagogy, internships, and community engagement. Collaborations with regional schools will provide practical teaching exposure. With this launch, Salesian College joins a select group of institutions pioneering the ITEP model in India.
