India –Salesian Priest leads Clergy in Study of Pope Leo XIV’s Encyclical on Artificial Intelligence

(ANS – Vasai) – Nearly 120 priests of the Diocese of Vasai gathered at Atmashodh Darshan Kendra, Sandor, on 20 June 2026 for a study session on Magnifica Humanitas, the recent encyclical of Pope Leo XIV addressing the ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence. The formation programme, organised under the guidance of Bishop Thomas D’Souza, was led by Salesian priest Fr Joaquim Fernandes, SDB, as resource person. The session offered an in‑depth reflection on the challenges and opportunities presented by AI, reaffirming the inviolable dignity of the human person and the Church’s responsibility to guide technological development with ethical discernment. The initiative formed part of the Diocese’s ongoing commitment to theological formation and pastoral responsiveness in the digital age.
