Convened by the Commission’s coordinator, Fr José Miguel Núñez, Director of Colle Don Bosco, the meeting brought together members from the communities of Chieri, Colle Don Bosco, and Valdocco. On the agenda was a formation theme entitled: “The Salesian Sites and Their Importance for the Present-Day Salesian Mission: Between Reality, Pastoral Challenges and Horizons to Be Reached.” The topic was presented by Fr Enrico Lupano and followed by a fruitful exchange of reflections.
During the second part of the morning, in the presence of the Rector Major, Fr Fabio Attard, the Commission worked on identifying objectives and lines of action for the year ahead. Several working groups were established to address key areas such as “The Reference Framework for the Salesian Sites,” “A Historical-Spiritual Guide for the Salesian Sites,” “The Formation Path for Volunteers,” and “Logistical Aspects for the Welcome and Accompaniment of Pilgrims.”
This Commission, established by the Rector Major and his Council following the most recent General Chapters, serves as a valuable instrument for the promotion and revitalization of these places, which are strategically significant from a charismatic perspective.
The goal is to foster an ever deeper knowledge of Don Bosco and a renewed understanding of the Salesian experience, capable of illuminating the educational and pastoral mission of the entire Congregation.
These three “major sites” — Chieri, Colle Don Bosco, and Valdocco — are increasingly becoming privileged points of reference for the charism, welcoming pilgrims, members of the Salesian Family, and young people from around the world, and serving as living spaces of memory, formation, and missionary inspiration.
