Dominase is currently a place with no future, and life there is very difficult for those who live there. The main obstacle to the village’s well-being is the endemic water shortage, which is severely affecting the community, not only socially and economically, but also in terms of health. At present, there are no safe water sources, and the inhabitants continue to contract intestinal and skin infections because they are forced to drink contaminated water.
Dominase is facing a full-blown water crisis, and the Salesians wish to act as soon as possible to put an end to this dire situation.
The Salesians working on the ground have realised that, in order to launch any project, the priority is first to provide drinking water to the community of Dominase; for this reason, they have asked for help from the Salesian Mission Office in Turin, Missioni Don Bosco, to assist them in covering the costs of drilling a well, so that the inhabitants can drink and cook safely.
The project and the quote are ready: the aim is to proceed with the drilling work, followed by the construction of a water tower and the installation and commissioning of the plumbing system for water distribution. In addition, managers will be trained in best practices for use and maintenance – true ‘team leaders’ who will be tasked with raising awareness within the village community on these issues.
At the Salesian mission near Dominase, everyone is raring to go, and all the necessary preparations are already underway to ensure that the local population’s inalienable right to water is upheld.
