As they talked, Fr. Matthews shared that the chapters over in Australia are also doing a lot of beautiful, lively ministry, which beautifully mirrors and inspires what Salesian Family is doing in Hong Kong.
At the same time, he shared a heartfelt concern that all together are facing: young people today often lack the motivation to seek faith and easily get lost in the online world. With fewer real-life connections, it has brought about quite a few communication gaps.
Even with these big challenges ahead, Fr. Matthews warmly encouraged all present. He reminded that guided by Don Bosco’s spirit and protected by Our Lady, lay people can still do and give so much for the youth. He was also really glad to see that Salesian Family team is so alert to the times—not only looking into moving its youth ministry online, but even starting to learn how to use AI tools to reach out and connect with the younger generation. “This is such a key step, and we really need everyone to keep working hand-in-hand, growing together, and bringing brand new energy into our online ministry!” Vincent Wan, Provincial Formator of the Association of Salesian Cooperators (China Province), finally stated.
