Spain – Council of the Salesian Family of the Province of St James the Greater: recognising, giving thanks and planning

(ANS – Madrid) – On 7 February, the Council of the Salesian Family in Spain’s St James the Greater Province (SSM) held a meeting attended by 18 people representing most of the SF groups. The day began with the Eucharist celebrated by the SSM Provincial, Fr Fernando García, president of the Provincial Council of the Salesian Family, who read a report on what this six-year term of accompaniment of the Salesian Family has meant. He focused in particular on the establishment and launch of Salesian Family local councils. During the meeting, the Provincial thanked the groups for their commitment at the local level. Especially those formed by lay people and present in most of the local Councils: ASC, ADMA, Past Pupils. It took many months to invite all the Groups to discover the need for these local Councils. Now they are operational and must work to revitalise the charism where God has placed us. ‘We thank God that our relationship with the bishops and parish priests is good and growing. There are more and more diocesan priests involved with the Salesian Family who are formally asking to join one of the groups,’ concluded the Delegate for the Salesian Family, Fr José Antonio Hernández.
