Rome, Italy – January 2026 – A significant moment of communion and planning took place on the morning of Sunday 11 January, bringing together the Provincials of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and the Salesians of Don Bosco in Italy. The meeting, which took place in an atmosphere of deep fraternity and great collaboration, confirmed the common desire to walk together for the good of the new generations. At the centre of the discussions were two crucial issues for the future of the mission in the country: the reshaping of Salesian Italy – a strategic discussion to rethink the Salesian presence and structures in the territory, with the aim of responding more effectively to today’s educational challenges; Mission animation and the 150th anniversary of the expeditions – the definition of shared guidelines to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first missionary expeditions, relaunching the evangelising momentum that characterises the charism of Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello. The meeting was enriched by the participation of the Councillor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, SDB, and the Visiting Councillor of the FMA, Sr Paola Battagliola. This synergy between the SDB and the FMA represents a promise of hope and a concrete commitment that will certainly bear good fruit for young people throughout Italy, strengthening the identity of a religious family that looks to the future with boldness and unity.
