Spain – Formation begins for medium and long-term volunteers of the Madrid Province’s Misiones Salesianas

Madrid, Spain – January 2026 – From 23 to 25 January, the first face-to-face meeting of the formation programme for medium and long-term Salesian Missionary Volunteers took place at the headquarters of the Salesian Mission Office in Madrid, Misiones Salesianas. The event marked the beginning of the formation and accompaniment process for those who wish to live an experience of dedication and service in Salesian communities in Latin America and Africa. After a preliminary process of discernment, personal reflection and interviews, the participants began this journey with enthusiasm and commitment, accompanied by the formation team. Throughout the weekend, the Salesian Mission Office became the home of the entire group, a space for meeting, communion and reflection. The eight participants were able to get to know each other, share their motivations and deepen their understanding of the meaning of volunteering as a life choice lived with generosity and service. During the various sessions, key topics were addressed, such as the figure of Don Bosco, the Salesian charism and mission, the functioning of Misiones Salesianas and the importance of integrating volunteering into a personal and vocational life project. One of the most significant moments of the meeting was the visit to the Museum of Salesian Missions, which allowed participants to come into contact with Salesian missionary history.
