(ANS) – Counsellors from Salesian schools in Spain’s Mary Help of Christians Province (SMX) held three meetings between late March and early April to address a shared challenge. The meetings took place in Barcelona on 16 March, in Valencia on 26 March and in Málaga on 9 April, with the aim of sharing a common framework for guidance and identifying the support needs of school counsellors. To this end they worked from three complementary perspectives: firstly, by linking the purpose of guidance to a Salesian perspective. Secondly, by identifying the common and distinctive elements of the regulations of the various autonomous communities regarding guidance functions, from a legislative perspective. And thirdly, by reflecting on the contribution of the psycho-pedagogical intervention in schools from a constructivist perspective. At the end of this series of meetings, the evaluation of the three days was extremely positive, highlighting the welcoming atmosphere and the high level of commitment demonstrated by the guidance teams. Following the conclusion of these in-person meetings, the work will continue both online and in person throughout the month of May in the various regions, with the aim of developing an integrated proposal outlining the priority functions of Salesian guidance.
