(ANS – Jaén) – On the Feast of Mary Help of Christians, 24 May, the Polígono del Valle district of Jaén hosted an event filled with emotion and gratitude with the inauguration of “Don Bosco Square”, in recognition of over half a century of Salesian presence in the city, dedicated to education, evangelisation and social support. The event was attended by the Bishop of Jaén, Sebastián Chico Martínez, the city’s mayor, Julio Millán, members of the city council, representatives of the Salesian community, young people, families and numerous residents of the neighbourhood. During the ceremony, a commemorative monument dedicated to St John Bosco was also unveiled. The parish priest of San Juan Bosco parish, Fr Juan Carlos Macías, expressed his gratitude for this public recognition and emphasised that the new square represents “a gesture in support of the educational and evangelising work carried out in the city over the past decades.” With this new square, the city publicly acknowledges a history of dedication and daily commitment that has profoundly marked the life of the neighbourhood and the Church of Jaén.
