Syria – Aleppo, new armed clashes: at least seven victims. Educational activities suspended for security reasons

According to local sources, drone attacks and clashes in densely populated areas have caused civilian and military casualties, numerous injuries and damage to infrastructure. For security reasons, some of the city’s main roads have been temporarily closed. The parties to the conflict have also hinted at the possibility of further military action.

In this context of growing instability, the Salesian community in Aleppo, historically committed to working alongside young people and the most vulnerable sections of the population, continues to be a point of reference for the local community. The events of recent days bring to mind the initial stages of the conflict, once again marking the daily life of the city.

Due to the security situation, all educational and pastoral activities have been temporarily suspended. After-school programmes, sports and recreational activities, training sessions and meetings of the Salesian Cooperators have been interrupted.

In the meantime, a renewed appeal for prayer is being made to the entire Salesian world, asking it to accompany the populations affected by the conflict with spiritual solidarity and to support the journey towards lasting peace. Despite the difficulties, the hope for a reconciled future for the country remains alive.
