Slovakia – Commemoration of Blessed Martyr Fr Titus Zeman, SDB, celebrated in Vajnory

In his homily the Salesian recalled that 2026 will mark the 95th anniversary of Fr Zeman’s entry into the Salesian novitiate and the 75th anniversary of his third expedition, during which he was captured and began his personal Calvary. The preacher linked these events to the Gospel, whose central message for the day was ‘Do not be afraid!’.

‘Fr Titus Zeman was not afraid when he entered the novitiate in 1931, at the age of 16, nor when he entered prison in 1951. In both cases, he overcame fear because he entrusted himself completely to Jesus and the Virgin Mary, whom he loved so much,’ said the Superior of the Salesians of Slovakia.

After Mass, the priests and faithful immersed themselves in silent prayer and asked for the intercession of the Blessed for their needs before his reliquary.

As is customary, this year too, the Postulator General of the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family, Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, congratulated the Superior of the Salesians in Slovakia for the enormous gift that the province had received through the person of Fr Zeman; and Fr Timko read his message with pleasure.
