Philippines – Golden Jubilee Celebrations of DBFC–Lawaan

The celebrations were preceded by a novena and various activities, including a motorcade, youth night, sports fest, exhibits, and cultural events. A major highlight was the Alumni Homecoming on 25 January, which, for the first time, brought together all alumni groups from the past 50 years. Alumni from DBFC’s diverse formation programs gathered as one and formally formed a unified alumni association, reflecting the Center’s growth from a simple high school seminary and oratory into a college department and regional catechetical formation center.

During the jubilee homily, Bishop Patricio Buzon, SDB, former Rector of DBFC, underscored the mission of alumni in society, reminding them that they are called to be missionaries wherever they are sent. On 31 January, the jubilee reached its peak with a dawn procession and a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Amelito Racelis, Provincial of the Philippines South Province. He expressed gratitude for the fidelity of Salesians and lay mission partners, recalling DBFC’s amazing growth and inviting the community to look forward with hope to the next 50 years.

The jubilee concluded with a cultural night marked by thanksgiving, fellowship, and joyful remembrance. DBFC’s Golden Jubilee was celebrated not only by the Lawaan community but also by the FIS Province and the East Asia–Oceania Region, affirming the Center’s enduring contribution to the mission of the Church and the Salesian Family.
