Spain – Pinardi Boscosocial celebrates 25 years of education with the heart

Educators, protagonists of history

In this significant year, the annual meeting of Pinardi’s professionals was organised to celebrate the anniversary under the motto “25 years of education with the heart”; and, at the same time, to pay tribute to educators as “protagonists of history”.

Their work and dedication have, in fact, enabled Pinardi to build a network of support and hope for thousands of children, teenagers, young adults and families in vulnerable situations. The deepest gratitude came precisely from those who give meaning to the educational work carried out by the organisation.

During the main event of the gathering, held in the crypt of the Salesian church in Atocha, one of the most moving moments was the screening of a video featuring young people who found support for their studies and their future at Pinardi; mothers who expressed their gratitude for the comprehensive support received in raising their children; and beneficiaries whose testimonies reminded the educational team that their work leaves an indelible mark.

Awards were also presented to staff members who have worked at the organisation for 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years. In addition to this main event, on the morning of Friday 27 March a welcome reception was held for everyone, a ‘Good Morning’ in true Salesian style, followed by the ‘Protagonists of History’ fair. For two hours, participants took part in a series of workshops, games and educational activities held in the courtyard of the Salesian community and in the school’s classrooms. The event concluded with a shared lunch.

What is the impact of Pinardi’s work?

Pinardi’s educational journey unfolds across eight Social Platforms with a strong presence in the neighbourhoods. Each platform is a “home with a heart” that welcomes hundreds of children, young people and families every year to take part in socio-educational projects, formal education, work integration and community action in the Community of Madrid (Alcalá de Henares, Arganzuela, Estrecho, Fuenlabrada, Pan Bendito-Carabanchel, Parla and Paseo de Extremadura) and in Castile-La Mancha: (Puertollano). In total, Pinardi Boscosocial supports over 7,000 people every year.

The organisation also runs 10 residential homes for child protection, youth empowerment and the reception of young migrants. Ultimately, the aim is to offer comprehensive support and a solid network of contacts to those who, for various reasons, lack these, providing them with opportunities for development and promoting their social inclusion through education.

This may include academic support programmes, formal education or specialised vocational formation. The constant is the Salesian methodology, based on the Preventive System.

Where is Pinardi heading after 25 years?

At the Pinardi federation of social platforms, the future is envisaged as Don Bosco would have imagined it: with eyes turned towards Heaven and feet firmly planted on the ground. Once this model of intervention has been established in the Community of Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha, the challenge is to continue innovating without losing the Salesian essence, because “Educating with the heart” is not just a motto, but the way Pinardi has chosen to be in the world.

These 25 years are just the beginning of many more stories that Pinardi wishes to continue writing in the hearts of every neighbourhood and every person who takes part in its projects.
