The initiative aims to create a space for dialogue and collective reflection to identify common issues, recognise best practices and analyse the forms of intervention being developed in the regions. All this with a view to providing concrete inputs for the 17th Face-to-Face Meeting of Salesian Social Works and Services, a key forum where joint actions are planned at the continental level.
The work is organised into four thematic working groups:
- Internal and external human mobility
- Youth employability
- Children and adolescents in vulnerable situations
- Youth violence, substance dependence and problematic substance use.
Each group comprises three meetings with specific objectives to guide the reflection. The first meeting focuses on defining the profile of the population being supported; the second on analysing successful methodologies and best practices; and the third on reflecting on the role and competencies of those accompanying these processes.
The first meetings took place between 21 and 24 April, marking the start of this collaborative journey. Prior to this, participants gathered information that enabled an initial assessment to be drawn up.
This input guided the dialogue during the sessions, which included presentations, conceptual frameworks and collective analysis involving the provinces of: Western United States, Guadalajara Mexico, Mexico-Mexico, Central America, the Antilles, Haiti, Venezuela,Bogotá Colombia, Medellín Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Argentina North and Argentina South.
As the Salesian Social Network of the Americas, the aim is not only to analyse the reality but also to develop joint responses. The conclusions of these round-table discussions will be shared at the 17th In-Person Meeting of Salesian Social Works and Services, with the aim of defining lines of action to strengthen the impact of social works in the region.
