The celebration brought together priests, religious, formees, youth, and lay collaborators in a spirit of thanksgiving and reflection. The Jubilee programme unfolded as a rich and creative mosaic of dramas, dances, instrumental performances, thematic talks, and visual presentations prepared and presented by the Brothers and Sisters of the College. Each item beautifully highlighted the core mission of the institution: forming shepherds configured to the Heart of Jesus and dedicated to the service of the Church.
A day of Gratitude with Priests and Religious
The first day was dedicated to priests, religious, and formees. Sr. Mable Dhar, VSDB, Mother General of the Visitation Sisters of Don Bosco, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The gathering, attended by around 650 participants, was marked by heartfelt thanksgiving to the Lord for the abundant blessings bestowed upon the College over the past fifty years.
It was also a solemn moment to honour the selfless dedication, sacrifices, and fidelity of generations of formators and collaborators who have contributed to shaping future shepherds of the Church. The atmosphere of fraternity and gratitude made the day a memorable milestone in the history of the institution.
Youth and Lay Collaborators: Partners in the Mission
The second day of the Jubilee focused on youth and lay collaborators, underlining their essential role in the life and mission of the Church. Nearly 600 young people participated enthusiastically, filling the campus with energy, joy, and missionary zeal.
The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr Edmund Gomes, former Rector of the College, addressed the gathering with a passionate appeal for vocations. He emphasized the urgent need for shepherds in today’s Church and encouraged parents to support and guide their children in discerning God’s call with generosity and courage.
A Renewed Commitment to the Future
The Golden Jubilee stood as a powerful testimony to the enduring mission of Sacred Heart Theological College in forming generations of priests and religious rooted in Christ’s love and pastoral charity. More than a commemoration of the past, the Jubilee became a renewed commitment to continue shaping shepherds according to the Heart of Jesus for the service of the Church and society.
As the College looks ahead, the celebration reaffirmed its identity as a house of formation where minds are enlightened, hearts are formed, and lives are offered in service. The Jubilee remains a grateful remembrance of fifty years of grace and a hopeful step toward the future mission of the Church.
