Argentina – Revitalising the Salesian mission: “Where the Gospel gives life and needs to be reborn”

On that evening, the Salesian Conregation’s General Councillor for the Missions, Fr Jorge Mario Crisafulli SDB, will be present. Together with Dr José Juncosa, from the Salesian publishing house “Abya Yala” at the Salesian Polytechnic University (UPS) in Ecuador, he will offer a reflection and suggest possible actions for the relaunching of the mission.

Accompanying this presentation and this moment of reflection will be the Superiors of various provinces in Latin America, including Fr Marcelo Farfán, Provincial of Ecuador (ECU); Fr Julio Boffelli, of Argentina North (ARN); and Fr Manuel Cayo, of Argentina South (ARS); as well as the Rectors of the Salesian Polytechnic University of Ecuador, Fr Juan Cárdenas Tapia, and of the Salesian University of Argentina, Fr Guillermo Tanos.

Inspired by the declaration agreed upon by all participants at the Congress in May 2025, this webinar aims to promote the mission at this time: “to do mission (misionar) today does not mean repeating pre-established patterns, but to give heart (corazonar) to life, to discern it starting from encounter, inculturating the faith and inhabiting spaces with respect, boldness and tenderness” because, as Salesians of Don Bosco, we are convinced that “we are moved by the person of Jesus, his mission and his actions that touch the wounded flesh of the world like the Good Samaritan (…). Where the Gospel gives life and needs to be reborn. The mission’s courtyards are the margins: the world of young people, indigenous peoples, the new vulnerabilities generated by globalisation, the digital world, ecology, addictions, the affective-sexual sphere, emotional health, social justice.”

The webinar will be moderated by Dr Adrián Madará, President of the Salesian University Foundation, and led by Fr Francisco Chimento SDB, Coordinator of the Congress Organising Committee.

The invitation is open to all, and you can join via Zoom using this link: (Meeting ID: 601 714 2958 // Access code: donbosco)

The American Salesian Missionary Congress “Entrelazando Caminos” has sought to blend the rich Salesian missionary history with critical reflections to promote a more effective cultural evangelisation in the Americas. This initiative is organised by the Salesian Polytechnic University (UPS) in Ecuador and the Salesian University (Unisal) in Argentina, as part of the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first Salesian missionary expedition in America in December 1875.
