After several years of closure, the Olbia centre of CNOS-FAP Salesians of Sardinia is resuming its activities with a practical, high-quality, and accessible educational offering: three fully funded three-year Vocational Education and Training (VET) programmes in Plumbing and Heating Systems, Electrical Installation, and Catering and Hospitality.
A central feature of the initiative is that all programmes are completely free of charge. Families will be able to enrol their children in vocational training courses without any registration or attendance fees, providing young people with a genuine opportunity for personal growth, professional development, and career orientation.
Open Days to Discover the New Educational Project
To present the renewed training offer, the Centre is organising two Open Days for students, families, and anyone interested in learning more about the Salesian educational experience in Olbia. The events will take place on Tuesday, 30 June, and Tuesday, 14 July, at the Vocational Training Centre (Via Monza 8, Olbia).
During the Open Days, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the facilities and workshops, meet the instructors, receive information about the available programmes, and explore the opportunities offered by Salesian vocational education. The initiative is especially aimed at students choosing their educational path after lower secondary school, those considering a change in their current studies, and families facing important decisions about their children’s future.
Three-Year Dual-System Training Programmes
The programmes offered are dual-system Vocational Education and Training courses lasting three years, for a total of 2,970 hours, and leading to a recognised professional qualification. These fully funded courses combine classroom learning, practical workshop activities, and extensive workplace experience, gradually introducing students to real professional environments and employment opportunities.
Plumbing and Heating Systems
The Plumbing and Heating Systems programme will prepare students to install, maintain, and inspect hydraulic, heating, air-conditioning, and sanitary systems. This technical and hands-on field is increasingly important in relation to energy efficiency, safety standards, and building maintenance.
Electrical Installation
The Electrical Installation programme will equip students with the skills needed to work with residential and industrial electrical systems, including installation, management, maintenance, and testing. It is a rapidly evolving sector closely linked to new technologies, home automation, safety systems, and the growing demand for qualified technical professionals.
Catering and Hospitality
The Catering and Hospitality programme is designed for those interested in developing skills in food preparation, culinary processes, plating, and service. This sector is particularly strategic for Sardinia and the Gallura region, where tourism, hospitality, and food services play a vital role in the local economy.
The Salesian Reality of CNOS-FAP
CNOS-FAP, the acronym for Centro Nazionale Opere Salesiane – Formazione Aggiornamento Professionale (National Centre for Salesian Houses – Vocational Training and Professional Development), is the Salesian organisation that promotes vocational guidance, professional training, continuing education, and employment services throughout Italy according to the educational style of Don Bosco.
At the heart of its mission are personal attention, educational accompaniment, practical learning, and the preparation of young people to participate competently and responsibly in society and the world of work.
In Sardinia, CNOS-FAP has long served young people, families, and local communities through its educational and training activities. The reopening of the Olbia centre therefore represents a significant milestone not only for the organisation itself but also for the entire Gallura region, creating new opportunities to provide young people with free, career-oriented training programmes closely aligned with the needs of local businesses.
European Social Fund Support
The programmes are part of the Sardinia Regional Programme ESF+ 2021–2027, “At the Service of Dignity”, supported by the European Social Fund Plus under Priority 4, Youth Employment. They lead to the professional qualifications established under the Italian national framework for Vocational Education and Training.
Learning by Doing
The CNOS-FAP Salesiani Olbia initiative is aimed at young people who want to learn through practical experience, discover their talents, and build a professional future through workshops, hands-on activities, workplace training, and educational support. All programmes are completely free, making vocational education both accessible and effective.
The Open Days on 30 June and 14 July will provide an ideal opportunity to visit the Centre, meet the educational community, and obtain all the information needed to enrol in the free programmes in Plumbing and Heating Systems, Electrical Installation, and Catering and Hospitality.
