The program began promptly at 9:30 a.m. on June 20, 2026 ago, with a conference that traced the remarkable journey of the Province over the past four decades. Participants were treated to a comprehensive overview of the Province’s history, beginning with the pioneering missionaries who arrived from China and India, and continuing through the growth and expansion that eventually saw the opening of newer presences in Lampung and Pontianak. Statistics, milestones, and stories highlighted both the challenges and blessings that have shaped the Province’s identity.
At 11:15 a.m., the celebration moved to the Eucharistic center of the day with the Holy Mass. In his homily, Fr. Boedi offered a deeper reflection on the themes raised during the conference. Focusing on the importance of the Salesian charism, he noted how the Province itself emerged through a unique and somewhat unexpected path. What began as the presence of the late Fr. Carbonell, of revered memory, to assist in the development of the East Timor Province eventually blossomed into a Province of its own. Although officially established earlier, the Province truly began to gain momentum around 2018.
Drawing from the words of St. Jerome, “Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ,” Fr. Boedi proposed a Salesian parallel: “Ignorance of the Charism is ignorance of Don Bosco.” He emphasized the need for every Salesian to continually study, deepen, and imitate the spirit of Don Bosco so that the charism remains vibrant and fruitful for future generations.
Before the final blessing, special recognition was given to the Province’s jubilarians. Each received a heartfelt certificate of appreciation together with a specially printed commemorative T-shirt bearing his personalized name. The joyful moment was followed by a colorful group photo session that captured the spirit of fraternity and gratitude that marked the entire day.
The celebration continued with the jubilarians’ procession to the stage, accompanied by the novices. A candle-blowing ceremony followed, along with songs offered in their honor as the participants gathered around them. One of the highlights was a creative poetic tribute presented by the youthful duo of Fr. Ambrose and Bro. Ambrose, bringing both smiles and applause from the audience. Responding on behalf of the jubilarians, Br. Ephrem expressed gratitude for the years shared in service and for the brotherhood that continues to sustain the Salesian vocation.
The Tigaraksa community then hosted a generous lunch, accompanied by live music, lively quizzes, and a seemingly endless stream of prizes that kept everyone entertained and engaged.
As the afternoon unfolded, the gathering shifted into recreation and games, providing yet another opportunity to strengthen bonds of friendship and fraternity among the confreres.
Thus concluded a memorable and historic first Province Day. It was a celebration not only of the past forty years but also of the future that lies ahead. The theme, “40 Years of Sowing — Now It’s Time to Reap,” reminded everyone that the fruits now being harvested are the result of sacrifices, dreams, and faithful service offered by generations of Salesians.
Ad multos annos! May many more years and abundant graces await the Province. Let us continue to love Don Bosco, live his charism faithfully, and flood Indonesia with his presence, his spirit, and his mission for the young.
