The ceremony began with the reading of a letter addressed to the parish community by the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki. In his message, the President emphasised the importance of the witness of Blessed Father Franciszek Miśka’s life, his fidelity to God, the Church and his homeland, as well as the role that martyrs play in shaping national memory and identity.
The highlight of the celebrations was the solemn Mass of Thanksgiving, presided over by Fr Prof. Jarosław Wąsowicz SDB, chaplain to the President of the Republic of Poland. The Mass was attended by numerous members of the faithful, representatives of local authorities, delegations from social organisations, priests from the deanery and Salesians from various communities. In his homily, the celebrant presented the figure of Blessed Fr Franciszek Miśka as a model of unshakeable faith, courage and boundless trust in God, even in the face of persecution and death.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, a ceremony was held to consecrate and unveil the commemorative plaque dedicated to Blessed Fr Franciszek Miśka. From now on, the plaque will remind future generations of parishioners of his heroic witness and the spiritual legacy he left to the Church and the Salesian Congregation.
The next part of the celebrations took place during the parish-Salesian festival, which had a patriotic theme. The organisers had prepared a rich programme combining religious, educational and patriotic elements. The prize quiz on Poland proved a great success, during which participants were able to test their knowledge of the country’s history, culture and traditions.
There was no shortage of attractions for children and young people, which helped to create the joyful atmosphere of a family celebration. Participants were also able to enjoy the lavishly laid tables, prepared with great dedication by the Rural Housewives’ Associations and the local village councils belonging to the parish. The regional dishes and homemade desserts provided an opportunity to meet, chat and strengthen the bonds between the local residents.
The entire ceremony took place in an atmosphere that was both solemn and warm. It was a day of prayer, gratitude and community celebration, which will long remain in the memories of those who took part. Whilst giving thanks to God for the gift of the beatification of Blessed Father Franciszek Miśka, the parishioners also asked for his intercession for families, young people, their homeland and for new priestly and religious vocations.
The celebration was a powerful testimony to a living faith and a commitment to the religious, patriotic and Salesian values that have shaped the life of the Salesian parish of St Stanislaus Kostka in Jaciążek for many years.
