The campaign managed to collect food, water, blankets, mattresses, basic necessities, toys and nappies. In addition, the money raised amounted to $10,967,000, funds allocated for the creation of aid kits for families previously registered, whose homes suffered serious damage.
The collection was centralised at two strategic points: the Don Bosco Foundation Headquarters in Santiago and the Colegio Institución Teresiana de Las Condes. From these collection centres, the aid was transported to the south thanks to the solidarity and support of trucks provided by families from the circus world, the Municipality of La Florida and the Compañía de Teatro del Biobío.
In the affected area, distribution was coordinated by Fr Víctor Mora, president of the Don Bosco Foundation, in conjunction with the rector of the Salesian School in Concepción, the Municipality of Penco and community organisations in Lirquén, ensuring that support reached those most in need in an organised and targeted manner.
Fr. Víctor Mora emphasised: ‘As a Foundation, we also face multiple needs and ongoing challenges, but we know that at times like these it is essential to show solidarity and help with what we have.’
‘This campaign is a concrete example of how solidarity, when organised, can be transformed into real hope,’ he emphasised, thanking each institution and individual who joined the cause for their trust.
Fundación Don Bosco expressed special gratitude to the employees of the EMARESA Company, who organised an internal collection, and to Comercial MyM Limitada, which collaborated with the donation of TEVERE mattresses, a critical item for the victims’ rest.
With this gesture of solidarity, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to continue accompanying the affected communities, working to build networks that will enable the transition from emergency to a process of long-term accompaniment and reconstruction.
