During the three-day visit, the international delegation focused its efforts on two of the organisation’s most robust intervention ecosystems: the Fundación Servicio Juvenil, a long-standing reference point in the resocialisation of street children, and the Salesian Porvenir presence, a strategic hub for education and community development in southern Bogotá. Dr Hodel analysed the success indicators of the current programmes, highlighting the effectiveness of the Salesian educational model in post-conflict contexts and those characterised by structural inequality.
The central focus of this international mission was the identification of opportunities for formulating cooperation proposals in line with the sustainable development standards of the Swiss Federal Public Ministry. The visit not only reaffirmed the mutual trust between the two organisations, but also laid the foundations for a new phase of funding and technical assistance aimed at vocational formation and the comprehensive protection of children.
This renewed partnership between Swiss cooperation and the Colombian institution highlights the importance of transatlantic alliances in tackling global challenges such as poverty and exclusion. This visit opens a new chapter of hope for thousands of young people who see these initiatives as an opportunity to transform their lives and contribute to the nation’s progress.
